MUSIC WORKS: Jazz Exploratory Ensemble Saturdays 2:30pm-3:30pm AGES 10-14

AUDITION REQUIRED

This is an introduction to music instruction for beginning musicians. The goals are to teach consistency, independent study and prepardness for success.  Provides youth with introductory music lessons. All instruments provided: trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, upright bass and percussion. Students begin playing an instrument on the first day, cultivating a curiosity in music education.

GIANT STEPS: Jazz Orchestra Saturdays 1:00pm-2:30pm AGES 10-14

AUDITION REQUIRED

Young musicians participate in rigorous training focused on Jazz /Modern music through the jazz orchestra. Offered in-studio on Saturdays; students receive training on music history, theory, improvisation, sight-reading and musicianship.  Slots available for the following instrumentation:  piano, acoustic bass, drums, trombone, saxophone, and trumpet.  Students perform and record a variety of repertoire including the annual repertoire featured by Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Orchestra program. 

MILES AHEAD: Jazz Orchestra Saturdays 3:30pm-5:00pm AGES 15-18
